Ancient Wisdom: A godlike inferno
04/08/11 || Lord K Philipson
When opener “After reality” starts off I, for a second, thought Dan Swanö entered my headphones with his vocals. Then I remembered that Swanö is actually a good vocalist and came to my senses. With a moniker like “Ancient Wisdom” I expected some incredibly shitty black metal from Greece or something. I was wrong. I don’t really know what the fuck to make out of this. The first few minutes of “The opposition” sounds like a huge fucken theft from the title track of Dio’s second album (that would be “The last in line”) and Ancient Wisdom even further puzzle me. What are these guys trying to do? It’s not even borderline metal, this. I wish I could say it is Teh Suck, but the thing is – AW’s not doing too fucken shabby with their acoustic guitars (that are all over the place) and simple sing-along tunes. But I also don’t think they will go fucken anywhere. I have to give them props for the incredibly fine title “Devil brain” though.
5/10: The band name and song titles will confuse you when you hear this band. Expect anything but actual metal.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
